Vacon Harmonic Simulation is a specialized power-quality tool for modeling and predicting harmonic distortion in AC distribution networks, particularly in systems that use variable-speed drives and other non-linear loads. It allows users to build simplified single-line models, define upstream short-circuit strength and R/X ratios, add transformers, cables, and load groups, and run scenarios to estimate current and voltage distortion at key buses and at the point of common coupling (PCC). The software calculates harmonic spectra, THD and TDD, flags potential resonance issues, and compares results against common guidelines such as IEEE 519 and relevant IEC limits. Engineers can evaluate mitigation options—such as line or DC-link reactors, multi-pulse rectifiers, passive or active filters, and active-front-end drives—and generate clear reports to support compliance, equipment sizing, and design decisions. The result is a streamlined workflow that helps reduce power-quality risks and optimize costs while meeting harmonic requirements.

Vacon Harmonic Simulation is developed by Vaasa Control OY. The most popular version of this product among our users is 1.0. The name of the program executable file is Simul.exe.
